TL-M0-03 · Create the repository with create-turbo

Why: create-turbo sets up the pnpm workspace, Turborepo and git in one command. Its example apps are removed in the next step; they are only what the starter ships.

ID TL-M0-03 · Level L0 · Run order row 3

~/opleet-v2/opleet is a git repository holding create-turbo's starter, with one commit.

  • TL-M0-02 is Done.
  • git knows who you are: git config --global user.name and git config --global user.email each print a value (the email you use on GitHub).
  • ~/opleet-v2/opleet doesn't exist yet.
Terminal window
cd ~/opleet-v2
pnpm dlx create-turbo@latest opleet --package-manager pnpm
  • pnpm downloads create-turbo, then:
  • “>>> Creating a new Turborepo with:”, listing apps/docs and apps/web under Application packages, and packages/eslint-config, packages/typescript-config and packages/ui under Library packages.
  • “- Installing dependencies...”, then “>>> Success! Created your Turborepo at opleet” and “>>> Initialized a git repository.”
Terminal window
cd ~/opleet-v2/opleet
git log --oneline
ls -A

One commit: “Initial commit from create-turbo”. ls lists .git, .gitignore, .npmrc, AGENTS.md, README.md, apps, node_modules, package.json, packages, pnpm-lock.yaml, pnpm-workspace.yaml and turbo.json.

It stops with ERR_PNPM_IGNORED_BUILDS: paste the output. pnpm 12 refuses dependency build scripts nobody has approved.

No “Initialized a git repository” line and git log fails: run the block below, then the Check.

Terminal window
git init -b main
git add -A
git commit -m "chore: initial commit from create-turbo"
Terminal window
rm -rf ~/opleet-v2/opleet

Nothing outside the folder changed.
